Privacy policy

This policy explains what information ZARWise (zarwise.co.za) collects, how it is used, and the choices you have. ZARWise is operated by AfroTech in South Africa. We process personal information in line with the Protection of Personal Information Act, 2013 (POPIA).
The numbers you type into the calculators
Every calculation runs entirely in your own browser. The salary, bond, price and other figures you enter are never sent to us or stored by us. If you close the page, they are gone.
Information collected automatically
Like almost every website, our hosting provider automatically records basic technical information when you visit, such as your IP address, browser type, the page you requested and the time of the request. This is used to deliver the site, keep it secure and fix problems. We do not use it to identify you.
If we add a website analytics service in future, we will update this policy to name it and explain what it collects.
Advertising and cookies
ZARWise is funded by advertising served by Google AdSense. To show ads, Google and its partners use cookies and similar technologies:
- Third-party vendors, including Google, use cookies to serve ads based on your prior visits to this website or other websites.
- Google's use of advertising cookies enables it and its partners to serve ads to you based on your visits to this site and/or other sites on the internet.
- Other third-party vendors or ad networks may also use cookies to serve ads on this site.
You can opt out of personalised advertising from Google by visiting Google Ads Settings. You can opt out of some third-party vendors' use of cookies for personalised advertising at www.aboutads.info. If you opt out, you will still see ads, but they will be less relevant to you.

You can also block or delete cookies in your browser settings. The calculators will keep working without them.
Visitors from the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom and Switzerland will be asked for consent before personalised ads are shown.
When you contact us
If you email us, we receive your email address and whatever you choose to include in your message. We use this only to reply to you and to improve the site. We do not sell it, and we do not add you to a mailing list. We delete old correspondence when we no longer need it.
Sharing your information
We do not sell or rent personal information. Information is shared only with the service providers who help run the site (our hosting provider, our email provider, and Google for advertising), or where the law requires it.
Some of these providers store data outside South Africa. Where that happens, we rely on providers that are subject to data protection laws or agreements that give protection comparable to POPIA.
Children
ZARWise is intended for adults managing their own finances. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.
Your rights under POPIA
You have the right to ask whether we hold personal information about you, to see it, to have it corrected or deleted, and to object to its processing. To make a request, email us at hello@zarwise.co.za.
If you are unhappy with how we have handled your information, you may complain to the Information Regulator of South Africa at inforegulator.org.za.
