About ZARWise
ZARWise gives South Africans quick, accurate answers to everyday money questions: what you'll take home, what a bond will cost, what home you can afford and what it costs to transfer a property.
Who we are
ZARWise was created by AfroTech, a South African team building useful, free online tools. The calculators are free to use, need no sign-up, and work on any phone or computer.
Why we built it
Money calculators in South Africa are scattered across bank and property sites, many of which are built to capture your details or sell you a product, and some of which are a tax year out of date. We wanted one independent place that is always current, explains its working, and never asks for your personal information.
Where our figures come from
Every rate and table on ZARWise comes from an official or primary source, and each calculator page lists them:
- SARS for income tax brackets, rebates, thresholds, medical tax credits and transfer duty
- National Treasury's Budget for changes such as the retirement contribution deduction cap
- The South African Reserve Bank for the repo rate, which sets the prime lending rate
- The Deeds Office fee schedule published in the Government Gazette
- The Law Society of South Africa conveyancing fee guideline
We update the calculators after every Budget Speech, every Reserve Bank rate decision and every change to the Deeds Office and conveyancing fees. Each page shows the date its figures were last checked.

How the site is funded
ZARWise is free because it shows advertising, served by Google AdSense. Advertisers have no say over our calculations or content. Our privacy policy explains how advertising cookies work and how to control them.
